August 2024: Call for the 1st Open Data and New Datasets Contest

This July the Open Data portal of the Cabildo de Tenerife has deepened the dissemination of the current importance of data, with the call for the I Open Data Contest that will reward the best proposals of Reuse Ideas and that use, at least, a set of datos.tenerife.es. The call is open until October 23, 2024 and the rules can be consulted at the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo.

In addition, continuing with the same objective of dissemination, the Webinar on the Cabildo's open data portal can now be viewed on the Youtubechannel of the Caja Siete Chair of Big Data, Open Data and Block Chain. In addition to showing the contents and possibilities of the portal, possible cases of reuse of open data were also presented.

New datasets: Fauna collection

In parallel, the portal has continued to increase the available resources with the dataset on collected wildlife by the Cabildo' s La Tahonilla Recovery Center.

This dataset offers information by years from 2014 to 2023, in CSV and JSON formats, and allows filtering by municipality of collection, date, cause, scientific or common name, animal species, sex, age, state at the time of collection and cause of death if it occurs.

A very useful set of data for studies related to nature and the environment, allowing the creation of graphs (in the case of CSV format) such as the following, in which the common name of the species collected has been used.

In addition, Datos Abiertos Tenerife continues to make progress in the analysis of data sets for their forthcoming dissemination, such as the one linked to the contributions to the pension plan of employees of the island administration, which have an impact on the transparency of the Cabildo.

At the same time, progress is also being made in the dissemination of data on bio-waste from circular communities (community composting),wind and photovoltaic energy production andtheeffect of invasive exotic species in the Teno Rural Park, specifically the so-called "cat's tail" (Cenchrus setaceus).

Trainning

On the other hand, within the framework of the training actions on the open data portal, information on the use of the Development Space, aimed at promoting the exchange of opinions and the resolution of doubts among portal users, is now available . The correspondingtutorial can be downloaded at "Guide for users and developers" .

In short, a permanent and continuous work with which the Cabildo of Tenerife is deepening its commitment to Technological Transformation, aimed at generating new economic opportunities on the island and promoting transparency in public management.
