Publishing information openly from public administrations makes it possible to promote the institutional transparency and increase the confidence of citizens. It also enhances the involvement of society as a whole in policy issues and contributes to more effective decision-making through the analysis of data.
Open access to data also provides an opportunity for companies, both large and small, to create new services, boost their efficiency and identify new business opportunities.
A search engine is available on the Homepage and on the Data page (menu Data >>Data sets) to retrieve selected results. These researches are implemented in two different processes:
- Quick search:
Users need to enter the term(s) in the text line and the search engine will suggest all datasets containing this free text. If no such words are entered, the search engine will display the entire list of datasets.
- Search by filters:
If users wish to restrict the search results, they can add the various filters at the top of the Data - Datasets page: Organisations, Categories, Tags, Licence, Author, Last Modified and Format.
More than one filter can be activated at the same time and the returned matches are then updated according to the activated or deactivated filters.
At the same time, users can sort results by relevance, title (ascending and descending), publication date (descending and ascending), modification date (descending and ascending) and most frequently consulted.
Only data that meets certain requirements is published openly. In case the data is confidential or has personal aspects, it is not included in the data catalogue because dissemination is strictly forbidden by law.

The Cabildo de Tenerife is committed to working for the opening of the most possible sets. For this reason, if you have a dataset that you would like to see published on the website, simply send us a proposal using the form provided in the Suggest section, which is located in the Participate menu.
Yes, all the data available on the Cabildo de Tenerife Open Data Portal is free and can be reused freely, always respecting the conditions indicated by each license.
In the case of the Cabildo de Tenerife Open Data Portal, the Creative Commons Zero license will generally be applied to the Cabildo de Tenerife datasets, which means that in this case the data is belonging to the public domain and without restrictions. The application license can be consulted for each set of the collection.

Open data are the data collected that can be "freely consulted, downloaded, used and redistributed by any person or company without restriction of use and which at most, depending on the type of license, must be credited to the original source and disseminated in the same way as it is released" (Open Knowledge Foundation definition).
Essentially, it is an initiative to make available to the society in general the data collected, produced and disseminated by the Cabildo de Tenerife, by the public sector of the Cabildo de Tenerife and other local entities of the island of Tenerife.

On the Cabildo de Tenerife Open Data Portal, the datasets are available in open format to facilitate the reusage and dissemination of themselves. The objective is to give the opportunity to citizens, companies, researchers and other public institutions to use the resources published in this portal, taking advantage of the economic and social opportunity offered by these resources.
