Welcome!

Welcome!

We present the new Open Data portal of the Cabildo de Tenerife, a place where you can consult, download and reuse data in open format from the Cabildo itself, as well as from its public sector.

Structure of the portal

The portal is divided into 5 main blocks, in which we differentiate: Home Page, News, Data, Reuse and Participate. It also has an access for developers.

  • Home page: offers an overview of the portal, with the most important information and direct access to the different pages. Thus, from the Home page users can perform searches, either by search engine or by topic; find out the latest data published and which are the most requested; discover the latest news on open data and find answers to some of the most common questions, among others.
  • News: within this block, there are two sections: News and Agenda.
    • Agenda: where you can consult the upcoming events to be held in relation to open data and the portal itself.
    • News: in turn, it is divided into two sections:
      • News: this is the section in which this post is published. It contains the publications with the most relevant news about open data and the portal itself.
      • Project diary: includes the progress made in the project.
  • Data: this is the place where all the portal's datasets are published (data catalog). Within this block, the following sections can be identified:
    • Datasets: the user can search using the search engine bar and/or use the available filters to obtain specific results. In any case, once a dataset is selected, a new page will be displayed with all the details of the dataset and the options available in each case to view and/or download it.
    • API: it is the ideal space for developers who want to launch requests in a simple way against the data catalog. The possible requests are documented with examples and can be tested directly from the web.
    • SPARQL point: allows searching the metadata network of the portal's datasets.
    • Dashboard: interactive space where the available data can be visualized in the form of tables, maps or graphs.
  • Reuse: within this block, there are three different sections:
    • Apps and companies: shows the different companies and applications that use or have used the data published in the portal to create new products and/or services. The aim is to publicize the different initiatives that can be created from the open data on the portal, while acting as a source of inspiration for future reusers.
    • Space for development: this is the meeting place for all those who want to exchange their experiences with the use of the portal, raise doubts or generate debates on issues related to open data. To access this space, it is necessary to register on the portal as a reuser user.
    • Training: here you will find articles that allow you to learn more about open data, find out how you can participate in the portal and get ideas for future reuse projects.
  • Participate: as its name suggests, it is intended for user participation. For this purpose, it offers the option of asking questions, making suggestions or communications directly to those responsible for managing the Cabildo de Tenerife's Open Data portal:
    • Question: this is the place to go if you have any doubts or questions regarding the portal. Contact will be made via e-mail in order to respond to each of the questions.
    • Suggest: offers the user the option of proposing new datasets that are not yet included in the portal and may be candidates for publication. Once the proposal is received, its feasibility will be studied.
    • Communicate: space for companies and/or reusers to report on their use of the portal's open data. It is the previous step to publish the companies and applications on the Reutiliza page and give them visibility.

In addition, users who are registered in the portal can access it through the option located in the upper right corner of the portal (Login). This is the case for publishers, editors and reusers. Depending on the profile, different functionalities will be enabled.

Benefits of open data

The reuse of data enables the creation of new services and applications that generate economic, social and environmental benefits for society as a whole:

  • Businesses and entrepreneurs.

Open data gives both large and small companies the opportunity to create new services, improve their efficiency and identify new market niches.

  • Public sector

It helps to improve the public services offered to the population, increases society's trust in its governments by promoting the transparency of institutions and encourages citizen participation in political issues.

  • Society in general

The reuse of open data makes it possible to improve society's information and knowledge about the activities of the public sector. This translates into greater proximity to citizens.

The Open Data portal of the Cabildo de Tenerife makes available to all citizens, companies and reusers, as well as other public administrations, a series of open data sets, which will grow exponentially over time with new openings.

The objective pursued with the birth of the portal is to turn the Cabildo de Tenerife into a benchmark for the dissemination of open data on the island. We invite you to discover it, explore all the possibilities it offers and make use of its data.
