The portal datos.tenerife.es reaches 200 datasets and becomes a benchmark in the opening of data

The portal datos.tenerife.es has become in this 2023 a benchmark in the opening of data in Tenerife by reaching 200 data sets made available to citizens, companies, researchers and other institutions, with the aim that, through its reuse, economic and social added value is generated.

Since last April 12, the old Tenerife Data portal, in which the Cabildo de Tenerife had been publishing its open data, gave way to this new space, its functionalities and available data have been increasing.

The federation of datos.tenerife.es with both the Open Data Portal of the Government of the Canary Islands (datos.canarias.es), which manages the open data catalog of the entire community, and with the national open data portal (datos.gob) has made it possible to increase the visibility of the resources contained and the possibilities of reuse .

Aware of the need for public and business utility of open data, the new portal has been equipped with numerous data sets, in all the categories established by the Technical Interoperability Standard for the Reuse of Information Resources (NTI-RISP).

In the area of the Environment ,the development of a meteorological data API is one of the milestones of the new portal, offering the consultation of specific data on meteorology in 62 stations on the island, which are currently available to the Technical Service of Agriculture and Rural Development (AgroCabildo) . In addition, through the portal's data catalog, data from the different weather stations, daily and ten-minute measurements of humidity, temperature or solar radiation, for example , can be found .

In the categories of Welfare, Education, Sports and Health, the portal offers a list of associations, educational centers, health centers and sports resources located on the island.

In the Transport category, data on transport companies and infrastructures, bus lines and schedules of public transport, incidents and cleaning and maintenance operations on roads, among others, can be accessed .

Withregard toUrban Planning, information on public administrations and services in Tenerife has been included.

In the categories related to Economy, Commerce, Industry, you can find updated data on warehouses and available spaces in industrial parks, industrial companies or information on hotels and restaurants on the island.

The area of Tourism is, in parallel, another of the most complete in terms of data opening, with sets on tourist accommodations or economic development indicators.

With 7 data sets, the Rural Environment categoryoffers, among other resources, the phytosanitary warnings of vine and potato crops on the island, generatedby the Technical Service of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In thisway, and after a year 2023 of generating new data sets, the portal has become a place of reference for reusing and sharing data from the island of Tenerife and, at the same time, a public space in which to increase knowledge about its uses, with both informative and educationalarticles .

As of the date of this publication, more than 4,500 people have accessed the portal and consulted the available data sets, which reflects its importance in the generation of new opportunities for companies and entrepreneurs, in the improvement of public services offered to the population and in the improvement of the relationship between the administration and the citizens.
