July 2024: new open data sets
The Tenerife Open Data portal continues to make progress in the dissemination of data that contributes not only to greater transparency in public management but also, and essentially, to the reuse of information to generate new applications, solutions and employment opportunities.
The month of July will be marked by a new milestone in the dissemination of the portal, with the announcement of the 1st Open Data Competition: Cases of Reuse, which will reward innovative projects and ideas. There will be three awards, endowed with a total of 6,000 euros and open to the general public.
New datasets: Mercatenerife and Tenerife tramway
At the same time, the portal has continued to increase the resources available with two new sets of very useful data for reuse by both the public and private sectors, such as those relating to information on the price of fruit and vegetable products on sale at Mercatenerife and the stops and routes of the Tenerife tramway.
Thus, in this dataset you can access the indicative prices per month of fruit and vegetable products for sale in Mercatenerife from April onwards, with the possibility of filtering by product, price or origin (local or foreign). With this data set it is possible to analyze the evolution of the prices of the products offered in Mercatenerife by days, weeks or months.
Secondly, data have been incorporated that continue to contribute to the promotion of public transport on the island, such as those relating to the Tramway in Tenerife. Thanks to the data provided by Metropolitano de Tenerife, it is possible to access the different streetcar lines and view (or download) them in map format, the location of the stops and the frequency or interval of passage .
Under study: Bio-waste, Exotic species, Wind power and Daily traffic intensity
In addition, Datos Abiertos Tenerife continues to make progress in the analysis of data sets from the circular communities bio-waste project (community composting), wind and photovoltaic energy production, the effect of invasive exotic species in the Teno Rural Park, specifically, the commonly known as "cat's tail" (Cenchrus setaceus) and data from the Wildlife Recovery Center.
In the Public Sector category, the data set of the Cabildo's pension plan contributions is currently under development and, in Transportation, progress continues with the opening of data on daily traffic intensity on the island's roads.
On the other hand, in the framework of the portal and open data dissemination actions, we have continued with the commitment to disseminate content through the Cabildo's social networks in X (Twitter), Facebook and Linkedin, as well as in the Youtube channel , where you can already see two examples of cases of reuse of the portal's open data in this new training video.
In short, a constant work to continue the firm commitment of the Cabildo of Tenerife for transparency, innovation and the creation of new economic opportunities on the island.
